This busy thoroughfare spanning six cities of the National Capital Region witnessed history in 1986 when two million Filipinos, worn from fourteen years of totalitarian rule and emboldened by Benigno Aquino Jr.'s assassination, marched in a peaceful protest that ultimately toppled the regime. The yellow ribbons that never got to welcome the late senator back to his home country are now used to symbolize the Filipinos' victory in the battle for their freedom and liberty.
